  • Black Creek Bistro

    Black Creek Bistro originated as an extension of our farm to enable us to continue to do what we love and give back to the community. The farm was part of a land grant to Captain John Stevenson as payment for Revolutionary War deeds.  The house was built in the 1860’s and is a Federal  style mason farmhouse we are still restoring in Canal Winchester.

    All animals on the farm are the same breeds you would have seen at the turn of the century and we grow many heirloom vegetables and herbs. In restoring the Bistro we used salvaged wood from barns and houses that were being torn down by developers.

    At the Bistro our goal is to use fresh local products when possible and make delightful food at affordable prices. Our menu will change at our whimsy and we will follow sustainable practices as much as possible..  To that end we not only take from the farm but we give back to the farm. We strive to compost all food scrap on the farm to nurture the soil. All waste vegetable oil is reclaimed and used for fuel, we currently have two farm trucks running on the used vegetable oil!

    In giving back to the community we buy directly from local small business and farmers whenever possible and our primary vendors are Ohio based companies to keep it all in our Ohio economy.

    We support the Olde Towne Neighborhood association by donating meeting and storage space.

    Our Kitchen team lead by Executive Chef Jonathan Olsen are working with the Columbus State Culinary  Program, Bradford Schools Culinary program, and the Alvis house to offer training and employment to those seeking a second chance to better their lives and are currently setting up a program for returning veterans.

    We have partnered with the Roscoe Gallery who coordinates local Artists to supply art for purchase and your viewing pleasure. All art is from local artists and all proceeds from the sales go directly to the artist.

    We have  partnering with the Metro Parks Trails program at the farm, We have donated a key piece of land that allowed them to connect parks and communities with eventually 165 miles of interconnecting trails along the central Ohio rivers and creeks. Metro Parks has finished the trail on our section of property.  We are relocating the pasture for the animals to within three feet of the trails! We are now connected to the largest piece of continuous trails throughout Columbus that will enable anyone to hop on the parks trail in the city and ride or hike directly to our Farm!

    As we continue this great adventure as a company, team, and member of this community,  we will always strive to follow the advice my son James gives me whenever I ask him serious questions, he simply says “do what’s right Dad”
